OK I have a feeling you didn't like Queer or Craig in it, I didn't love the film but I did enjoy the passion of Craig in it, he does overdo it on certain moments but I think that was intentional.... "I want to talk to you....without speaking"....

I liked Faist in Challengers, but O’Comnor was the only 5 in it for me. Not just because it was a flashier role, but I felt he added to that character the most.
A: He's reviewing him, 86 Supporting is coming right after so he probably didn't see the point in adding him so late to the list.

Luke:
Garfield - 4(Garfield I feel gets a bit more of the twee material to sell in the scheme of the film, particularly with things like the coach whistle, his job interview and a few other things, so I do think he struggles just a touch more than Pugh in that regard. Beyond that though he still strikes up a convincing and frequently charming chemistry with Pugh to properly realize very much the tear jerking romance. Mixed in with obviously the more overt emotional scenes that if Garfield or Pugh were any less good would go to far more extreme melodrama, not that the film avoids it entirely anyways, but at least because their emotions feel real it makes it feel less contrived on the whole. Garfield in that sense does grant a better realized reality even within the phony elements, to make it all elevated beyond the trappings to at least a degree.)
Wang - 4.5(He successfully delivers a performance as a not particularly charismatic teenager which is in some ways a fine art since said type of teenager can be particularly unlikable or just a bit hard to have a lead performance. It however can be an honest approach to such a character by offering an honesty to such a film. Wang gives a very honest performance in turn where he isn’t particularly charming but he does feel wholly real throughout the film. As we get the different sides of the young man who mainly wants to just pretend to be whoever the “cool” seems to be between periods of intense self-pitying mixing in with lashing out mostly at his mother. In each of these phases Wang is wholly convincing in creating that strong awkwardness in his performance however in a way that is believable. He brings within that awkwardness the real angst which he thankfully does internalize with the right sense of the reality of what he is going through, as it would’ve been very easy to go over the top or just play the surface. Wang finds the heart of the matter each time making then his natural growth of trying to find any earnest growth within himself something that feels convincing, which isn’t typical easy happiness but rather making it a constant struggle with one’s self.)
Magaro - 4.5(Magaro gives a very good performance in terms of just selling the singular moments each and every time bringing to it the sort of direct reality needed per the moment by moment approach of the film. Magaro brings the right increased gravity per moment in knowing when to accentuate something in terms of bringing forth that overt quality of the man just keeping to his job, but with those scenes where the humanity of the character pierces it a bit. His best moments are when you do see a degree of doubt or anxiety built within the moments of presenting the dogged professional doing what it takes to do the best job possible. Magaro finding the right internalized emotional exhaustion and even regret in certain moments that allude to the weight of the situation which they don’t openly discuss how they potential could’ve maybe made it worse, however some of that is shown just in Magaro’s reaction that creates the sense of the man thinking a bit deeper into the situation than how the ratings are going to look.)
Bryan:
Anora/Nights of Cabiria

Nickel Boys/King of Devil’s Island
The Substance/Seconds
Wicked/The Wizard of Oz
Louis: Would Bram Stoker's Dracula be your retro pick for Nosferatu.
Another watch of Sing Sing has cemented both Domingo and Maclin as my wins now(I am yet to watch Murphy and MacKay though). Powerful stuff.

4. Grant
5. Plemons
1. Murphy
2. Hoult
3. O'Connor

Louis: If you get a chance to re-watch I'm Still Here sometime between the last Alternate Lead Actor review and the Oscars, would you consider reviewing Mello then.
Marcus: I have a feeling that was always the plan.
What's everyone's most anticipated film of 2025.
Anonymous: Del Toro's Frankenstein.
Anonymous: One Battle After Another by Paul Thomas Anderson
Anonymous: Either Superman or Mickey 17.
Anonymous: Park Chan Wook's No Other Choice
Louis: What do you think of these double feature choices?
Conclave/Advise & Consent or Executive Suite
Emilia Perez/Phoenix
Nickel Boys/The Tree of Life
The Substance/All About Eve
Wicked/Becket
Anonymous: Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning
Anonymous: Mickey 17 for sure. Can't come sooner. It has been a thing for SO LONG now lol.
I rewatched Taxi Driver recently and De Niro's work in that is a definitive all time great performance for me. Kinda surprising that De Niro isn't a 5 for that on here. I thought that was one performance, whose all time great status couldn't be doubted. Finch is great but De Niro is better imo.
Perfectionist: He was a 5 when he originally reviewed him then his opinion of it deteriorated to a degree. Never really got a proper explanation as to why that is.
Shaggy:
I wouldn't put it in 2023.
Tony:
Both Advise and Consent (as a secret revealed and political power play) and Executive Suite (Specifically different contenders and their flaws would be a good fit). I would never sully Phoenix's named to be paired with that trash fire, hence my own double feature being with a notorious trash fire. The Tree of Life does share much with Nickle Boys so it is logical, though obviously the latter is more concrete in its narrative overall. All Above Eve is good less literal version, Becket's an interesting choice though the connections I see from the first film anyways seem relatively limited to me.
Aw, man. I actually liked Craig a good deal. Line-up is mighty interesting, though.
1. Stan
2. Chalamet
3. Plemons
4. Mackay
5. Grant
1. Murphy
2. O'Connor
3. Hoult
4. Zovatto
5. Kupferer
Perfectionist: I wouldn't say he's better than Finch but he is obviously great.
