If you guys get the oportunity because like Plummers performance in Remember it is one that unravels during the duration of the movie. Imagine a kettle that has been boiling for a long time and then the water hit its boiling point and explodes. That is Ulrik Munthera performance in The Here After. Incredibly nuanced and naturalistic performance of a young man burdened by memories of his past and the consequences of his actions. His performance are about the things we do for love, the ugly, nagging, selfish, rotten part of love. The toxicity of youth I suppose. But I have always been a sucker of morally ambigious characters in movies.
Plummer - 5 (Thank you guys for filling me with confidence in him getting his 2nd) Dano - 4.5 Mitchell - 4.5 Rohrig - 4.5 Munther - 4 (Bryan gave the film 3 stars so that's as high as I'm gonna go)
I'm in the middle of making the films to watch list which I'll be posting later on today.
Since Louis is taking the wait and see approach for a change, I hope Mortensen and The Throne guys are surprise reviews and I predict a 4.5 for Driver.
Apologies for the size of the list guys but I'm just not good at trying to cut stuff down.
Louis: Get around to whatever you think is most essential first and try some of the rest with whatever time you have left. Oh and you'll be glad to see I didn't include that one about a Dying Girl otherwise all hellfire would rain upon me from everyone here. :)

Also wont complain about Hardy getting a review, since his "Mad Max" performance is a great minimalist effort, and perhaps his most underated turn from 2015.
Luke: From what I can recall, "Z for Zachariah" isn't bad - though it may not be to everyone's tastes and I could see how someone might find it boring. For 2015, I think "Grandma" is also worth a watch for Lily Tomlin and Sam Elliott (sort of a warm up to his "A Star Is Born" work).
Louis: Is it possible for me to rescend a winning request in favour of another?
Watched The Here After. The film itself has a few questionable directorial choices, and I'm not sure what rating I'd give Munther. His performance worked as the unrepentant psychopath I thought he played it as, but I'd be surprised if he got more than a 3.5 or 4 for it.
Louis: i have a copy of La Terrazza with English subtitles. If you want to watch the movie i can send you the file with WeTransfer, but i need your mail.
Anonymous: I actually thought Spall was the one aspect that brought that episode down. John Hamm was acting circles all around him. White Christmas is still on my top 5 Black Mirror episodes, though.
Btw, does anyone know what are the chances of ever getting a Hamm review on the blog?
Emi: He's been good in stuff like "The Town" and "Million Dollar Arm", but much like Hugh Laurie, he's an actor whose film output pails in comparison to his TV work.
Mitchell: Honestly Baby Driver isn’t THAT essential. Falls apart about halfway through when it keeps trying to make Baby the moral center. Looks and sounds cool, though. Elgort is fine for once, but Joe Keery or John Boyega (who apparently was runner-up for the role) probably could have done more. I’d say Foxx’s performance aged the best since he’s the biggest source of tension within the film.
I watched 45 Years. I though it was great and I have to give Courtenay in particular a lot of credit for giving the performance he gave considering he's often times not even in frame.
Razor: I actually didn't see Remember. What made me associate The Father is this image of Plummer that Louis used which has some similar elements like: cinematography tone, lighting, clothes and even makeup.
Nietzsche: Christoph Waltz Voltaire: Mark Rylance Rousseau: Daniel Auteuil
Mitchell:
If I may sell the Mortensen pick a bit more (Again specifically about the Brazilian expedition so an older Roosevelt). Mortensen has proven sort of the ability for period aspect in A Dangerous Method, but also has the "man's man" style presence essential. Additionally though seeing that fall apart as he falls into an experience that nearly destroy him I feel would be something amazing.
Anonymous:
I mean that's a great cast, not crazy about the overly "clean" look aesthetic however. Tonally seems purposefully over the top, which in turn means it could be entertaining, or could be lousy depending on how they wield it.

Louis: Okay, given that premise and time period, I could definitely see Mortensen playing it very well. Granted, Teddy lived such a storied life that you could pick a number of eras to bring to the screen, whether it be his explorations, his presidency, his military service or his early days as a rancher/outdoorsman.
I also had that question regarding our winning requests, and if would be okay to rescind one we've already made?
Let it be known I'm retracting my request for Patrick Huard from "Bon Cop, Bad Cop". As for a different 2006 request - I'm going to need some time on that.

And if one of Russell or Maguire were to be reviewed and upgraded, I'd rather see the latter right now and the former saved for the next backlog.

Luke: I think if louis watches fantastic four, then Toby Kebbell will rank lower than Eddie Redmayne for Jupiter Ascending.
Anonymous: He'll get a 1. I have a hard time believing he'll be a 0 and below Redmayne.
1) Plummer
2) Rohrig
3) Munther
4) Dano
5) Mitchell

Louis: Is it possible for me to rescend a winning request in favour of another?
Mitchell: He's already seen Grandma and Sam Elliot was the only thing he liked about it.
He'll allow it as long as it's from the same year.
*Elliott
Luke: I knew that, but I was more refering to the year overall, since other people here may not have seen it themselves.
Incidently, I thought the movie was alright since it was briskly paced, and I liked Tomlin and Elliott.
Luke: Glad to see X+Y on the list, Hawkins is great and it's the only time I've ever seen Rafe Spall give a good performance.
Louis: Who would you cast to play these philosophers (in different movies, of course):
Nietzsche
Voltaire
Rousseau
Rylance for Voltaire I think.
Tahmeed: Just out of curiosity, have you seen the black mirror episode Rafe Spall was in? I actually thought he was pretty good in that.
Louis: Similar question to Tahmeed's - Who do you think should play Teddy Roosevelt in a contemporary film?
I would find it very difficult to cast him, frankly, since Roosevelt was such a larger than life figure.
Anonymous: Haven't seen a single episode of Black Mirror yet, been meaning to get around to it.
I would actually put all the actors from SOC in supporting, but if someone is lead it has to be Mitchell really.
1) Plummer
2) Munther
3) Dano
4) Mitchell
5) Röhrig
Louis: Your thoughts on the trailer for The Harder They Fall.
I was in a murder mystery mood yesterday, so for some reason I decided to watch Scream 3... what a silly decision that was lol.
Watched The Here After. The film itself has a few questionable directorial choices, and I'm not sure what rating I'd give Munther. His performance worked as the unrepentant psychopath I thought he played it as, but I'd be surprised if he got more than a 3.5 or 4 for it.
RatedRStar: funny thing is, i have definitely seen that one at least twice, and i don`t even remember who the murderer was
Tahmeed: I guess Louis will keep him until last then.
By the way, for Director guys, I'm only confident in Miller and Nemes. The other 3 spots are a bit of a crapshoot.
Tim: I just tried to check the Wikipedia page to find out... and the Wikipedia page does not even have the plot of the move at all!
1. Plummer
2. Dano
3. Mitchell
4. Röhrig
5. Munther
Mitchell: He picked Viggo Mortensen to play Theodore Roosevelt once, with Werner Herzog directing him in a film about his Brazilian expedition.
My guess for Louis’ Director top 5:
Miller
Villeneuve
Nemes
Coogler
Inarritu
RatedRStar: It goes without saying that the "Scream" franchise should've stopped after the first two.
Bryan: Not my immediate choice, but he'd be as good as one would expect, I suppose.
On another note, I just got to the "United States of Smash" moment from "My Hero Academia"...
I always thought it was an awesome scene, but there's now a distinct level of sadness to it having seen everything before.
Well, just watched Remember, and damn. Definitely Plummer's greatest work.
1. Plummer
2. Röhrig
3. Dano
4. Mitchell
5. Munther
Louis: i have a copy of La Terrazza with English subtitles. If you want to watch the movie i can send you the file with WeTransfer, but i need your mail.
Louis: Have you seen Ebert and Roeper's if we picked the winners for 2005? quite interesting to say the least lol.
5º Géza Röhrig
4º Ulrik Munther
3º Paul Dano
2º Jason Mitchell
1º Christopher Plummer
Anonymous: I actually thought Spall was the one aspect that brought that episode down. John Hamm was acting circles all around him. White Christmas is still on my top 5 Black Mirror episodes, though.
Btw, does anyone know what are the chances of ever getting a Hamm review on the blog?
Emi Grant: Unless Louis decided to review TV performances, it's zilch, I'm afraid.
Emi: He's been good in stuff like "The Town" and "Million Dollar Arm", but much like Hugh Laurie, he's an actor whose film output pails in comparison to his TV work.
Samuel L. Jackson is receiving an honorary Oscar.
Mitchell: Baby Driver is by far Hamm's best film work.
Congrats to SLJ.
Anonymous: I....still haven't seen "Baby Driver" (Braces for impact).
Also, I second Luke in regards to Jackson.
And they're giving one to Liv Ullmann as well. That is Longggggggggg Overdueeeeeee. :)
Louis's favourite actress finally gets the recognition she deserved.
So Happy about Ullmann!!!
Mitchell: Honestly Baby Driver isn’t THAT essential. Falls apart about halfway through when it keeps trying to make Baby the moral center. Looks and sounds cool, though. Luke, your top five Liv Ullmann performances
Louis: Do you think Tony Jay would do a good 80’s Judge Turpin?
1.Plummer
2.Dano
3.Rohrig
4.Munther
5.Mitchell
Also, for any surprise reviews, I'd love it if Louis did a write-up on Gleeson's work in Ex Machina.
1. Christopher Plummer
2. Paul Dano
3. Geza Rohrig
4. Jason Mitchell
5. Ulrik Munther
What is your top 10 characters that won the best supporting actress oscar?
1. The Emigrants/The New Land
3. Scenes From A Marriage
4. Autumn Sonata
5. Persona
Changing
1) Plummer
2) Dano
3) Mithell
4) Röhrig
5) Munther

Official pre-first review prediction:
1) Plummer
2) Rohrig
3) Dano
4) Mitchell
5) Munther
Is it my print or is this Plummer image very reminiscent of Hopkins in The Father?
Anonymous: It does now that you mention it. And both characters have dementia.
I watched 45 Years. I though it was great and I have to give Courtenay in particular a lot of credit for giving the performance he gave considering he's often times not even in frame.
Louis: Your thoughts on Succession's opening sequence?
Rewatched Love and Mercy for the first time since 2015. I'd give Dano a 5, and I'd raise Banks to a 4.5 as well.
Razor: I actually didn't see Remember. What made me associate The Father is this image of Plummer that Louis used which has some similar elements like: cinematography tone, lighting, clothes and even makeup.
