Louis: What do you think of A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms so far if you've been watching it.

Moura and DiCaprio are superior because The Secret Agent and OBAA are much better in terms of rewatching.

Louis: With the exception of 2022 (where you put Farrell in the middle), you’ve put the perceived Best Actor frontrunner in the middle of the collage every year this decade so far, whether that’s Boseman, Smith, Murphy, Brody, and now Chalamet this year. I’m curious, is that an intentional choice from you? Or just a coincidence?

Not a great bunch of nominees, but we’ve seen worse so I'm fine with it

I still need to see Moura. Nearest theater playing it is 50 miles away.

I'm probably not seeing either Hawke nor Moura until March, so I'm shooting in the dark here.

For what it's worth, The Secret Agent is out on VOD today, for those who still need to catch up on it.

I have a suspicion that Jordan will be getting a 4.5, which makes me curious about O'Connell's rating. It's gonna look pretty awkward if he gets the only 5 out of the Sinners cast...

2. Moura
3. Hawke
4. DiCaprio
5. Jordan

Harris: let's not make weird hypothetical insinuations here.

4. DiCaprio
5. Moura

Calvin: Wasn't "insinuating" anything at all. My point is that a (very fine) performance that has gone ignored by nearly every voting body getting a 5 will look odd. I'm not even sure how likely it is for O'Connell to get a 5.

Louis: Your 5 most surprising and disappointing films of 2025.

Harris: Analyzing very fine performances that are ignored by awards bodies and are 5 star quality sounds like a cool idea for a blog, someone should get started on that.

Anonymous said...

Harris: I agree with you on that.

Madigan didn't make it to the BAFTA shortlist. Taylor seems safer now. Great to see Mescal and Infiniti among nominees though. Skarsgard is there too and if anyone other than Elordi takes SAG, he seems to be an Oscar frontrunner.

Louis: What do you think of this late 2000s/early 2010s cast for the original Star Wars trilogy?

Luke Skywalker: Sebastian Stan
Han Solo: Aaron Eckhart
Princess Leia Organa: Emily Blunt
Grand Moff Tarkin: Alan Rickman
Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi: Sean Connery (in a Finding Forrester mode and Scottish to match Ewan McGregor, but chances he'd accept this role are preeeetty petite)
C-3PO: Doug Jones
Darth Vader: Clancy Brown
Lando Carlissian: Don Cheadle
Yoda (voice): still Frank Oz
Emperor Palpatine: Simon Russell Beale
Anakin Skywalker: David Strathairn

See ya in a decade, when I'll come up with a cast for 2030s prequels.

Also directed by Gore Verbinski maybe?
