2. Jacobi Jupe in Hamnet - Jupe gives a heartbreaking and endearing performance as he manages to deliver a child's earnestness with an adult's emotional conviction.
Best Scene: Cheating death.
1. Jack O'Connell in Sinners - O'Connell delivers a truly great villainous turn where he manages to be truly menacing, rather funny, quite charismatic, wonderfully musical and even finds a bit of pathos in his vampire.

Yeah, I wasn’t buying the assumption that Crowe would be a five. He was good I didn’t think it came anywhere near the heights of L.A. Confidential and Boy Erased, I also kinda wish he’d forgone the accent.
Also funny enough, O’Connell is my favorite from this lineup but I chose to predict him because of how much I’d been overestimating the Sinners cast in my predictions.
For the lead lineup:
Lee Byung-hun
Jesse Plemons
Josh O’Connor
Joel Edgerton
Daniel Jonsson
Paul Mescal
Dylan O’Brien
David Strathairn
Cillian Murphy
Sergi Lopez
This is the lowest amount of fives given in Supporting Actor for nearly 2 decades.
I'm fine with whoever's chosen though I would like DDL for a bonus writeup if you're willing.
Lee Byung-hun
Joel Edgerton
Josh O’Connor
Paul Mescal
Jesse Plemons
Channing Tatum (I honestly think he’s worthy of more than a 4)
Oscar Isaac
Louis: Your Editing top ten.
Dylan O'Brien in Twinless
Sergi López in Sirāt
Jeremy Allen White in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere
Everett Blunck in The Plague
Frank Dillane in Urchin
Harry Melling in Pillion
Robert Aramayo in I Swear
Cooper Hoffman in The Long Walk
David Jonsson in The Long Walk
Daniel Day-Lewis in Anemone
Well it's disappointing Crowe didn't get a 5, I found his Göring to be a pretty terrifying villain, even if his film wasn't remarkable in any way aside from him. Hell, from my perspective Malek was kinda like Bradley Cooper in Maestro in that he came off as somewhat decent, but upon rewatch he'll likely drop down by a lot.
Not that a rewatch of Maestro or Nuremberg is high on my priority list.
Louis: Where would you rank:
Daniel Craig - Wake Up Dead Man
David Bradley - Frankenstein
Jonah Wren Phillips - Bring Her Back
Ryusei Yokohama - Kokuho
Boy, I like Jack O'Connell well enough (except in Eden Lake) but I never thought I'd see him at number 3 in a ranking.
Glad Crowe isn’t a 5, granted I also thought that film was atrocious.
My suggestions:
Lee Byung-hun - No Other Choice (my most anticipated review)
Sopé Dìrísù - My Father’s Shadow (though it’ll probably be hard to find a way to watch it)
Frank Dillane - Urchin
Josh O’Connor - Wake Up Dead Man
Robert Aramayo - I Swear
Cooper Hoffman & David Jonsson - The Long Walk
Louis: Thoughts on the 28 Years Later cast?
Byung-hung Lee - No Other Choice
Jesse Plemons - Bugonia
Josh O'Connor - Wake Up Dead Man
Hoffman & Jonsson - The Long Walk
Don't know who else to suggest, I've watched very little from last year. Wouldn't mind an Edgerton write-up, though.
Oh, shit. I thought Raterman was a 4 for OBAA. Did he go up?
Emi: He mentioned it in Del Toro's review.
I forgor
Advocating for an Isaac review because of how it’ll be one that virtually only you and me agree on and no one else.
Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson - The Long Walk
Lee Byung-hun - No Other Choice
Paul Mescal - Hamnet
Oscar Isaac - Frankenstein
Jesse Plemons - Bugonia
Josh O'Connor - Wake Up Dead Man
Louis: Could you add Chris Evans in Materialists, Lars Mikkelsen in Frankenstein, John Diehl in Train Dreams, Timothy Olyphant in Havoc, Fisher Stevens and Hudson Hensley in Song Sung Blue, John Magaro and Bill Camp in The Mastermind, Bryan Hibbard in Christy, Akemnji Ndifornyen in The Ballad of Wallis Island, Soya Kurokawa, Min Tanaka and Ken Watanabe in Kokuho, Adonis Tanța in Kontinental ’25, H. Jon Benjamin in Familiar Touch and Amr Waked in Urchin to your ranking? Sorry if that's a lot
Tybalt:
Comer - (She’s entirely good though I will say this is one script wise I think I would’ve gotten more out of the film as a whole if there had been an earlier scene of her more cogent given she has to play immediately in almost fully the throws of the brain fog. Having said that she certainly plays that troubled state convincingly, and the moments we do get her of being the mom she does make what she can of showing an innate compassion…though I still find the rage virus birth scene dumb but I digress. I will say though in her last scene I still feel like I should be heartbroken and I’m not. And I think it is becuase I wish we had a more fundamental scene early on to anchor all of her work, as I like everything Comer does but for the writing holds her back just a bit.)
Taylor-Johnson - (One of his better performances though one where I think there could’ve been even more complexity in the idea of a certain perfect image of a father that slowly gets eroded. Taylor-Johnson more so plays the surface notes, but plays them well here. In playing up the general competence, the prideful dad supports his son but also the frustrations towards being in the situation with his wife. He’s entirely good but maybe someone else could’ve been great.)
Williams - (Convincing in playing the general notes of every scene in the moment, playing often fear convincingly but also the conflicting emotions of loving yet being sad for his mother, being troubled by his dad’s behavior. Again though I think his work is a little passive, I get it he’s a kid but again never did he quite devastate me as I think the film wanted because his work has a degree of limit to what he shows between fear and sadness. Hits those notes well, but again maybe he could’ve gone further.)
O’Connell - (I only wanted to note, having seen the sequel now, Boyle’s direction of the last scene actually just falls to dumb for me, particularly the trampoline flips.)
Ryding - (A comedic performance that does work in his out of whack quality with the rest of the film. Playing well someone who just is of a different existence and playing that lighter note effectively in a mix of trying to be helpful while also annoyed and annoying.)
Lucas:
At some point.
