Kinda wish Kaluuya was here, he really did stick with me. But I completely understand why not.

Louis: your rating and thoughts on Vera Farmiga in The Front Runner?
Louis: In case you missed it, Matt requested Christopher Plummer in Remember (2015)

Louis: Would Mamet be your choice for writer for your 90s version of The Sweet Smell of Success? And your choice for cinematographer?
And do you think Pitt could've also worked as Connie in that 90s version? It is Fincher after all haha.
I actually agree with Psifonian in regards to Heck and Melling being better than Waits and Nelson.

(Bottom lineup is STACKED)
Bryan: Looks dumb as hell and not necessarily in all the right ways. I’m glad they seem to be making proper use of Elba though.
Calvin: You could say that's the point for the Fast & Furious films as of recently, but then again, even this seems like it'll be a bit of overkill.
I hope they give Elba something good to work with though.

btw, Louis, I'd imagine that I can't request another 2014 performance, can I? (Just realized the film was 2014 by your rules)
Javier Bardem just joined "Dune" as Stilgar. Fuckin' A.
Any suggestions for who should play the remaining roles? I'd love to see Daniel Kaluuya (a Villeneuve vet) as Duncan Idaho, Stephen Dillane as the Emperor, Mackenzie Davis as Irulan, and Barkhad Abdi/Hiam Abbass in unspecified roles.
1. Waits
2. Hoult
3. Nivola
4. Hornsby
5. Bogdanovich
1. Yeun
2. Crowe
3. Bridges
4. Roache
5. Henry
Glenn Howerton as Feyd-Rautha perhaps?
To be honest I can imagine Bridges winning this. I didn't love El Royale but after re-watching it, I have to admit that Bridges' final scenes contain some of the best acting of his career.
This line-up is STACKED to the brim. But even with all the five worthy performances i'm not giving a second thought to who the winner will be.
1. Waits
2. Nivola
3. Hoult
4. Hornsby
5. Bogdanovich
1. Yeun
2. Bridges
3. Crowe
4. Henry
5. Roache
Also, i personally can't fathom giving Bridges a five but not Pullman. But that's just me.
Luke:
Jordan - 4.5(Having re-watched the film somewhat recently, Jordan is without a doubt the highlight of the piece, and he and Coogler continue to be such a dynamic pair within their own collaboration. Jordan succeeds in playing the villain though as he manages to find a real menace within the inherent intensity in his work. I like how he creates this certain vibe in his work of just a man with a disdain for life in general, as even though he express his views coherently it is only hate that defines them at every point. Jordan is quite effective in this in the way he never makes it a singular note, as he finds the right moments to have it a understated, when playing the broader villain, against his most intense moments of the man with the vendetta. I especially love his scene with Brown where conveys his inability to even express love in what was taken from him, as the hate just continues to override it.)
Brolin - 4.5(I will say notable work by just how little he feels like a CGI creation and Brolin is an essential part of this, just as is the most impressive work from the visual effects team. Brolin is never simply is in his expressions and delivery where he manages to find such nuance in the character. This is in the warmth he expresses in his quiet moments with Saldana, and even in the general sense of passion and respect within his character. Just the way he says "Stark" even grants such a sense of the history of the character, and it is really a remarkable performance. This in while still being the menace he should essentially through the certainty and passion in his methods.)
Hemsworth - 4.5(MVP all the way and his scene with Rocket is the best acted scene in any MCU film by my measure. Hemsworth is great though as he manages to continue what he did in Raganarok so brilliantly in multiple ways. This being the easier comedic elements that he brandishes so effectively again, and plays to Hemsworth strengths as a performer. Of course just as Thor's much funnier than he was in the other Avengers film it is also far more compelling in a dramatic sense. As Hemsworth is able to embody the pains of his character so effectively in every key moment when he has to face it whether it be suffering from Thanos's is cruelty, or the moment of trying to tell Rocket all he's lost. Hemsworth finds such a real poignancy in the character's heartbreak that he tries to cover up with essentially the face of the hero. Hemsworth is especially impressive in the pain he evokes, though with Thor trying to hide it, as he speaks of every one of his losses, and that he has to hold on his belief to success essentially to maintain even the slightest bit of his composure.)
Yelchin - 4.5(Just a reminder of the tragedy of his passing as this is one last terrific turn from him. He's great here though in essentially playing the character that's typically in high school films, that of the "cool" older guy who is often a drug dealer. Yelchin plays to that style well as he shows this false bravado as he tries to speak in these greater terms, and with this confidence about his personal philosophies. He's fantastic though once he gets assaulted, as Yelchin just reveals the scared loser essentially who is really nothing in the world. He's especially great in the way he says "what am gonna tell my dad" just like a scared kid, since his character isn't much more than that.)
Kaluuya - 4.5(It's unfortunate that his plot is often forgotten in the scheme of the film and we get so little of him. As I would loved more of him since I do like the dynamic between him and Henry, as Kaluuya shows the guy who refuses to really hide the psychopath against his brother who is trying to create respectability for himself. We sadly only get a glimpse. He is great though in all of his scenes of menace, even if I wish there were more of them, and he was given a bit more room to stretch. That's because he is great in what we do see in giving such an atypical turn in managing to really creating this genuine menace, from his not so menacing frame, mainly through his body language that captures this man who is almost like a snake trailing around his prey.)
Pretty stupid, and perhaps too stupid...but we'll see...it could be just stupid enough...or stupid it becomes amazing....Statham and the Rock at the very least seem to be doing their part.
Robert & Psifonian:
Well that's good then you guys can be wrong together....seriously though, I've noticed there isn't a set favorite out of the men which is probably why not a single male actor received even a minor critical citation for the film.
Omar:
I mean she's in the film, but she has nothing to work with to even create a character. We just kind of see her and are not allowed any sense of what her relationship with Hart really is truly like. There's nothing wrong with her work, as some have said, but she just has nothing to work with.
Bryan:
Yes and Luciano Tovoli. Yes.
Emi Grant:
You can.
Who I think will get 5s: Bridges, Pullman, Yeun, Waits, Nelson, Crowe
4.5s: Henry, Roache, Hornsby, Nivola, Hoult
4: Bogdanovich
Psifonian:
I'm just hoping he resists any urge to cast Jared Leto as Feyd-Rautha (and this is from someone who liked him in Blade Runner)
I predict fives for, Waits, Nelson, Nivola, Hoult, Yeun, Bridges, Pullman, and Crowe but fives for Henry and Roache aren't out of the question.
I'm just glad all the non-saves are 4.5's, especially Jordan who I was worried might be a 4.
Louis: Alright. My request would then be Ethan Hawke In Predestination. I'm not quite sure if he's supporting or not. I'd say he's lead, though.
Well, the thoughts as written on the non-saves really bode well for these reviews except for Hornsby (Hasn't been seen yet) and Bogdanovich.
I haven't seen Hornsby so i have no idea what rating to expect for him.
Glad to see 4.5s for Kaluuya, Jordan and Hemsworth. Brolin didn't have quite as lasting of an impression for me but I definitely get the praise.
1. Waits
2. Hoult
3. Hornsby
4. Nivola
5. Bogdanovich
1. Yeun
2. Bridges
3. Crowe
4. Henry
5. Roache
With regards to Pullman getting a 5, the only real reservation I have with his problem is the way his scenes are edited into the film; which honestly has nothing to do with him (and I'd understand if someone entirely disagreed with me). I honestly would support a 5 since Louis loves the film, and he really does nail his scenes.
When it comes to El Royale it depends on how much the film works for you to love the performances. I loved the film and Pullman's final scenes where he becomes the hero(and most notably his final moment with Bridges) is more than enough for me to give him a 5. I predict Bridges to finish 2nd overall.
Also, where the pluperfect hell are the "Game Night" boys?
Psifonian: He gave Plemons a 4.
1. Waits
2. Hoult
3. Nivola
4. Hornsby
5. Bogdanavich
1. Yeun
2. Bridges
3. Roache
4. Henry
5. Crowe
