To be completely truthful I just made this post because the last comments section was getting a bit cumbersome, so here's a fresh one for the upcoming awards.
1. Crucifixion by the Sea - Silence 2. Ending - Hell or High Water 3. Epilogue - La La Land 4. Drive it Like You Stole It - Sing Street 5. "I can hear you" - Hacksaw Ridge 6. The Punch - The Salesman 7. Odin Himself - Green Room 8. Ending - Arrival 9. "Shit just got real" - Hunt for the Wilderpeople 10. "But you know what she wanted" - Paterson
But yeah, actually I wouldn't have minded a Hell or High Water win. You know, if I re-watch it I might give it the slight edge. Lonergan has more of an ear for dialogue, but Sheridan's plotting is undoubtedly tighter.
It's a shame Moonlight had to win that way. Though I preferred La La Land, still a strong winner. Plus hey, La La Land can avoid the best picture backlash.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 293 of 293Very deserving win as well.
Hacksaw Fuckin' Ridge, take that Robert :P (I jest)
I can live with this particular Hacksaw win.
Time for Davis to win.
Win she did, and that speech...that speech.
Phenomenal win for Viola Davis. And for Hacksaw Ridge.
Also, anyone wanna see Davis and Mark Rylance play a sweet but macabre couple in some sort of dark comedy?
Come on the Salesman.
Yes!!!!!
My friend managed to catch that today and she was equally as positive as you Louis. I can feel your positive vibes seeping through.
Louis: It couldn't be anything else. :)
Pretty strong set of winners so far.
Louis: With the exception of Suicide Squad.
Louis: Do you think The Salesman would've won, if the travel ban wasn't in effect.
Suicide Squad almost ruined the whole night for me. Luckily they're picking up the pace. Some great winners.
Louis: Did you hear about The Salesman having its UK premiere in Trafalgar Square, hours before the ceremony.
Luke: Yeah, my friend went to that.
Luke:
Impossible to say, Erdmann could have easily just not played with the Academy.
Had not heard about that.
Also, these awards so far are a pretty big 'fuck you' to Trump in the most nuanced way possible.
Louis: It was a pretty big deal, free screening and everything, I'm annoyed I couldn't attend.
Would've preferred Moana or Kubo, but Zootopia is a good film.
La La Land finally wins, and for one of its most deserving.
Agreed.
La La Land finally wins. Excellent choice. Love this segment too.
FUCK
Muh ha ha ha ha ha(I apologize for the evil cackle)
HACKSAW FUCKINGGGGGGG RIDGE
McFly's back! Hacksaw Ridge rides again.
I'm actually so happy, so happy, so happy, so happy, so happy...
If Silence wins Cinematography, It'll be the moment of the night for me.
Hacksaw Ridge is doing very well tonight. Very happy about this.
Dunno about you guys but I like Kimmel as a host.
Far more tolerable than most actually.
Louis what would be your top five for director?
Anonymous:
1. Scorsese
2. Chazelle
3. Villeneuve
4. Gibson
5. Jarmusch
Well, i'm happy and sad about this. La La Land was very deserving of cinematography too.
Would have loved a Silence upset, but nevertheless a very deserving win.
Good choice!
Louis: Is Waititi your number 6?
While I prefer Silence's cinematography, La La Land's win was deserving.
Calvin:
Yes.
Can't argue against having Jarmusch up there. Best Director's been awfully competitive these last two years.
Oh and your top ten scenes of 2016.
La La Land's score is pretty easily my favorite win of its bunch.
Anonymous:
I'll go one scene per film.
1. Crucifixion by the Sea - Silence
2. Ending - Hell or High Water
3. Epilogue - La La Land
4. Drive it Like You Stole It - Sing Street
5. "I can hear you" - Hacksaw Ridge
6. The Punch - The Salesman
7. Odin Himself - Green Room
8. Ending - Arrival
9. "Shit just got real" - Hunt for the Wilderpeople
10. "But you know what she wanted" - Paterson
Keep the La La Land love coming please. Heavily deserving.
Great win for Score, A Good one for Song (Audition would have been better)
Glad they mentioned Paxton.
Great night for Calvin.
Wow, Manchester wins SOMETHING.
What a day! WHAT A LOVELY DAY.
But yeah, actually I wouldn't have minded a Hell or High Water win. You know, if I re-watch it I might give it the slight edge. Lonergan has more of an ear for dialogue, but Sheridan's plotting is undoubtedly tighter.
Also, MOONLIGHT.
At this point. Here's who i hope wins the rest of the awards.
La La Land
La La Land
La La Land
La La Land
La La Land
Honorable mention - La La Land.
Charles: What happened to wanting an Affleck win.
I'm actually kind of digging the idea of a Mortensen upset.
Chazelle wins, all is as it should be.
At least it wasn't Gibson.
Chazelle, yay!
Well with Actor/Actress, as long as Streep doesn't win, it will be a strong winner.
Luke: Anyone except Denzel. I'd love a Gosling win just as much as an Affleck win. The category is excellent.
Am i the only one who thinks Chazelle looks sickly?
Probably just nerve-wracked by it all.
SAG streak finally broken.
Yes! I doubled down on Casey! :D
Affleck!! I'm pleasantly surprised. Although I was expecting and prepared to love a Denzel win, this is great :)
I am very happy right now. Goodbye SAG streak. Goodbye 3rd Oscar Denzel.
Surprised that Affleck won. But whatever, he deserved it.
I'm feeling Huppert now, but it'll probably be Stone.
Stone! yes!
Stone takes it home, and if this doesn't go to La La Land I'll eat my hat.
YAAAAY! Stone won!
Baring a last minute write in Nocturnal Animals upset, this is a fine set of winners.
Phenomenal win for Emma Stone. Overly deserved.
Emma Stone won and I'm just so happy.
Or Warren Beatty sneaks a Rules Don't Apply win in.
Yep, La La Land.
Probably the only musical I'm fine with winning Best Picture.
What??????????
What the fuck?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, a twist worthy of Shyamalan.
Ok wait...
What the hell just happened?!
Well that was something else. I guess expect the picture/director split these days.
My heart sunk, but it was somehow hilarious. Blame this on Warren Beatty.
Wow, was that embarrassing...
I had La La Land winning Best Picture D:
I'm ecstatic, I adored Moonlight much more than La La Land.
OMG
I'm like, really really happy...but also kinda weirdly sad.
It's a shame Moonlight had to win that way. Though I preferred La La Land, still a strong winner. Plus hey, La La Land can avoid the best picture backlash.
Man, the backlash for this is going to be outrageous.
Not gonna lie, I've been laughing my ass off for 15 straight minutes and I can't stop.
If I would've predicted a Director/Picture split, I would've gone with Barry Jenkins and La La Land, not...well this.
Oh dear. What an awkward situation.
Robert: Speaking of Shyamalan, he just tweeted something about that out.
