4. Tom Hanks in Philadelphia- Hanks does have some good moments in the film but he also has many bad ones. Then in much of the film he is just underwhelming.
3. Liam Neeson in Schindler's List- Neeson finds the right charisma as
Schindler making everything Schindler does believable, and he finds the
perfect way to show Schindler's change over the film making his change
as effective as possible
2. Anthony Hopkins in The Remains of the Day- Hopkins gives a brilliant portrayal of specific subtle tragedy.
Bill Murray in Groundhog's Day
Michael Douglas in Falling Down

I thought Day-Lewis would win, but I suppose not! What did you think of Thompson in I.T.N.O.T.F?
Please do 2003 next! (Leading or Supporting)
Thompson was fine and did everything the role required but the role itself was more of a plot device than a real person.
I would have to go with Bill Murray in Groundhog Day.
Great job!
I haven't seen enough of the nominees yet to make my own choice.
Tom: Murray is great in that.
Fritz: Thanks!
My rankings:
1. Liam Neeson, Schindler's List: 5 out of 5.
2. Daniel Day Lewis, In the Name of the Father: 4.5 out of 5.
3. Tom Hanks, Philadelphia: 3.5 out of 5.
4. Anthony Hopkins, The Remains of the Day: 3.5 out of 5.
5. Lawrence Fishburne, What's Love Got to Do with It: 2.5 out of 5.
