I was really hoping you'd review Reed in The Brood.

I've only seen Holm (who's brilliant), so this is a shot in the dark.

I should also say the performance in The Warriors are a very mixed bag, it is very entertaining but some performances are poor, I did enjoy Marcelino Sánchez as Rembrandt he was quite endearing =D.

Thoughts/rating for Forrest, Bottoms and Fishburne in Apocalypse Now

Luke Higham said...

RatedRStar: Your thoughts on Germany-Ghana, USA-Portugal, Italy-Uruguay and Holland-Chile.

I hate to jump on the bandwagon, but Holm does seem like the most likely choice.

1. Ian Holm
2. Michael Palin
3. Marlon Brando
4. Dennis Hopper
5. James Remar

I'd kinda like to see Brando or maybe Palin win out in the end though. And I'd like to rank Remar higher but the film just didn't seem to care enough about his potentially great character.

Luke: I'll throw in my thoughts on USA-Portugal. Aside from the game's first 6-8 minutes or so and the costly last-minute set of miscues, the USA was by far the better team. They played much better than against Ghana, controlling the ball and possession well, which allowed them to dictate the tempo as well. Michael Bradley is my favorite player on the team, but he needs to step up his game. His bad pass did indeed lead to the equalizer, but I feel he was unfairly maligned as otherwise he played probably his best game yet, though considering his lackluster alternatives that's not really saying much.

@Luke: I am afraid I would not be able to add to Michaels thoughts on the USA game, and I did not see the Holland game or the Germany match however, I thought that Italy were terrible against Uruguay and Marchisio (a usually good player, was just idiotic in the challenge) Luis Suarez recieved his ban of course, I also saw Brazil/Chile and it was amazing, most tense game of the tournament so far.

Louis: Before Re-watching Apocalypse Now, what would your original rating be for Martin Sheen.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Since in my Honest belief that Michael Fassbender & Tom Hardy are the two best actors of their generation, I would like to ask on which acting legends would you most compare them to.

Louis Morgan said...

Robert: I began watching the film and it seemed Reed was more of lead. I'll try to get back to it.

JackiBoyz:

I'll definitely do that.

Luke:

No not yet.

I would have probably given a Sheen a 4.5 without the re-watch. I would say Fassbender is most like Peter O'Toole, and no not just because of Prometheus, as they both have that ability to have so much intensity yet still seemed reserved. Hardy on the other hand reminds me most of Richard Harris.

Anonymous:

Forrest - 4.5(I was incredibly tempted to review him too, but I decided to spread the wealth film wise a bit more. Forrest is terrific and I find actually steals pretty much every scene on the boat. He's got a certain comedic spark he brings out of his character's constant ramblings yet at the same time he shows that the manic nature of his character comes from a very real fear for his well being)

Bottoms - 3(He's fine enough in the early scenes as just the surfer being taken aback by Killgore's fanboyism, and then later as one of the almost catatonic fanatics, but he really does not really work on the transition. He's just sorta one then the other)

Fishburne - 3.5(He's quite good in a somewhat limited role. He brings the right awkwardness and energy to suggest the foolishness that stems from his character's youth and inexperience on the boat)

Louis: Will you be changing Justin Henry's rating.

Louis Morgan said...

I forgot I gave him a 4.5, I think four is more fitting.
