Best Actor 1960

And the Nominees:

Jack Lemmon in The Apartment

Laurence Olivier in The Entertainer

Burt Lancaster in Elmer Gantry

Trevor Howard in Sons and Lovers

Spencer Tracy in Inherit the Wind

Well it's Spencer Tracy's final chance, can he finally win, or is someone else the best?

A really great year.

I doubt that Spencer will win this time...I'm really sorry for him, this will be his 9th loss...But I have to admit, that I prefered Frederic March in Inherit the Wind...

At the moment, I don't know if I prefer Burt or Jack.

I prefer Jack Lemmon. Shame Anthony Perkins didnt get nominated for Psycho otherwise he would have got my vote

I L-O-V-E-D Burt Lancaster in Elmer Gantry, he created a character, and an interesting and complex one at that. It was a very well deserved win, in my opinion anyways.

For me, it's so damn easy. Without a second thought, Jack Lemmon, in his greatest performance besides Days of Wine and Roses.

Prediction:
1)Lemmon
2)Howard
3)Tracy
4)Lancaster
5)Olivier

Olivier is a really wildcard pick for #5 since you really like him. #1 is wishful thinking but I hope it won't be just that. :)

Ah, I love Jack in The Apartment. He's such a mensch in that. (That's a good thing, mind you.)

Jack Lemmon in The Apartment, just perfect as the film itself!

I think you should do 1966 next, be interested to hear your views on Paul Scofields superb performance in A Man For All Seasons.

I think the Academy got it right this year as far as who was nominated. Had Anthony Perkins been up, then he would have deserved it for "Psycho".
