Best Supporting Actor 1993: Tommy Lee Jones in The Fugitive

Tommy Lee Jones received his Oscar from his second nomination for playing Marshall Samuel Gerhard in The Fugitive.

The Fugitive is a just fine thriller about a man Dr. Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford) who is on the run from the law and trying to prove his innocence.

Jones plays the man trying to catch Kimble, who is not a villain but just a federal Marshall doing his job. This basically describes Jones's performance also. He basically is just the man in charge searching for him and he never does anything more than that really. The only thing about the performance that might be considered more is his character comes around to believing that Kimble is innocent. Jones does not really do anything special in terms of showing his character's transition but he still does it well enough. It is something that is a little more to the performance.

Most though he just gives orders and runs after Kimble nothing more nothing less. I suppose he has the right manner in his yelling of orders and questioning people. He certainly seems like the character he is playing. He is completely believable as the federal Marshall. He never does anything wrong in this performance. In fact the way he runs around and looks is just perfect. There is absolutely nothing wrong with his portrayal here of the Marshall and he handles the part well even if he never quite makes it something spectacular though.

Good writing there, basically just the man in charge. I didn't feel his performance went anywhere, besides being the good guy.

2 from me...

Good job! IMO he just played an asshole. And you're right that he doesn't do anything wrong, but it's not enough.
