and ohh what should I go for, Claude Rains.. A Hong Kong film performance perhaps, ill let you know soon what ive chosen.

Michael McCarthy said...

^I second all of these

So I guess I'm the only one who thinks Lorre is supporting in M?

@RatedRStar Why don't you choose someone else for once instead of Claude Rains and Hong Kong performances all the time, is that all you like?

A touch off-topic, but when you do 1978 Lead, I do hope you do Gregory Peck for Boys from Brazil. He got the Globe nom and I think he deserved the Oscar nom more than Olivier.

Louis Morgan said...

....I just did 78 lead.

I have 2 trailers here, since the performance im choosing comes from 1998 best actor, but I honestly don't know who to choose out of Anthony Wong and Tony Leung Chiu Wai from these films, could you check these 2 trailers out and tell me which one you would rather watch.

The Longest Nite = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nd_5T-n9Fs

Beast Cops = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvI8PyDKjxc

RatedRStar said...

their both up their with Hard Boiled and Infernal Affairs as Hong Kongs finest and most iconic.

Louis Morgan said...

I suppose the Longest Nite.

Mark said...

Louis, would you say your three favorite actors are Laurence Olivier, Gene Hackman, and Robert Shaw? Or at least three out of five?

RatedRStar said...

Tony Leung Chiu Wai in The Longest Nite it is then.

Louis Morgan said...

Mark: Those are three of them, Alec Guinness and Toshiro Mifune would fill out the five.

Do you still rank James Mason in your top 10 Louis?

Louis Morgan said...

He and Robert Duvall would be my six and seven.

My suggestions for 1931 Lead are:
Actually, I have absolutely nothing to add to RatedRStar.

As for my request, I'll go for Michael Caine in Zulu for 1964. I'm having trouble placing him in a category, however, I have him as lead but borderline supporting. He and Stanley Baker are the two main characters, but, as I recall, Caine has less screentime out of the two. Whatever, I guess Lead, although if you or several others say Supporting then go with that.

Louis Morgan said...

I think I would put him in lead although he is on the border.

Michael McCarthy said...

The Champ technically came out in 1931, are you going to review Jackie Cooper here?

Louis Morgan said...

No, as I really don't consider his performance particularly good and I was really grasping at straws when I listed him originally.
