I;'ve only seen Rains so far, but it's one of my favourite supporting performances of all time.

I think Rains created a very memorable character, umm I think its interesting to note that it seems Captain Renault might have had feelings for Rick, it suddenly seems implyed =)

Seems like there's lots of love for Claude Rains, so I think he'll win.
Charles Coburn gets my award for 1943, and Claude Rains, since Casablanca actually opened in 1942, gets my award for 1942.
