Balsam and Dunn were in awful films and therefore fail, frank finlay is ok but overacts at times, Banmen I hated so much his scottish accent drove me mad lol the only one that was great 4 me was Tom Courtenay

I agree that Rod Steiger should have been nominated for Doctor Zhivago, and that Oskar Werner was deserving too. I haven't seen all these nominees, but I thought Frank Finlay was good - even if it is. I feel, a leading role and (as you said in your review of Olivier's performance) a rather odd concept for a movie.

Courtenay for me. He played tenderness hidden by a raw intensity for his beliefs. He was great.
