It's a fairly forgettable episode all things considered but not a bad one.

Luke:

Waltz - (Waltz seems to be stuck in an unfortunate case of type casting as the Euro-villain. His performances seem to reflect a boredom with this and it's unfortunately becoming very stale despite how strong it began. Now his two Oscar winning turns are knock outs, and actually, despite similarities in the roles, do show a range. In Inglorious he's absolutely chilling in his portrayal of amorality, while in Django he's absolutely charming while being moving in his portrayal of morality. In both he brings an entertaining comedic energy as the life loving extrovert. His range does not end there as proven by Zero Theorem where he so effectively played an introvert. I wish someone would give him to stretch himself again because he has it in him.)

Brandauer - (Technically I need to see more of him, yet going off the four performances of his that I've seen he's an incredibly intriguing performer. In that he is able to capture this captivating cold emotionalism. His work has this striking presence, that perhaps can create distance, yet he offers so much nuance within it that breaks down that distance. He's one I wish to see more of, and I'd love to see him in a high profile film again.)

Kinski - (Also need to see much more of him, but from what I've seen he's a one of a kind performer. Kinski is this force of nature in his performance style that has this intense emotional quality within his animalesque physicality. He's captivating performer in his ability to be so grand yet subtle all the same. Such as one of my favorite moments of his is his underrated work in Doctor Zhivago where you just see him looking upon the free couple below him, and face expresses so much. Kinski's performance are his in a most unique way where he can be heartbreaking yet frightening all in the same breath.)

Anonymous:

Voight:

1. Sort of pondering the series as whole, well...Luke:

Sort of pondering the series as whole, well the revitalized portion, this film helped me kind of see what I like about the films oppose to other dumb action films. Well first of all the action is done well in all of ridiculousness. Just being ridiculous in itself isn't enough the execution has to be there, and it's there again. The second being the characters, which while they aren't Michael Coreleone or Scarlett O'Hara, they have just enough there, for an action film of this type, to be likable. Again again the likable "family" is there. Third is the chemistry the cast seems to be having fun, for the most part, and they let us in on the fun. Again that is apparent here. There is a mistake though in the tone, which the previous three I felt found the right balance between fun and taking it just seriously enough. Here though it actually went too dark at some points, even in the action they made the mistake to show human collateral damage, but worst of all was the main element of the plot which just is a little too serious for a Fast and Furious movie. It doesn't ruin the movie but it takes too much of the fun out of it, which is all that these movies are suppose to be.

Diesel - 2.5(I don't think where they put Dom was the best place for his character to be. Too much brooding is not a good thing for Diesel. Obviously he needed it for the part but it does not play to his strengths unfortunately.)

Johnson - 3.5(Rocking it out in the best of ways, with a great scene partner in ......)

Statham - 3.5(Okay his character change makes no sense, given what he did at the end of 6, in fact Luke Evans's brother probably is more redeemable in terms of his onscreen actions. Statham though is there to play and play he does. He's a great match for Rock and the two are so much fun together in there great clash of charisma. Someone get them a buddy cop movie NOW.)

Bridges/Gibson - 3(They're doing there usual thing and it's a good example of it.)

Eastwood - 2.5(Looks just like his father only with the charisma, confidence and screen presence removed. To be fair it kind of works though for this part given he's suppose to be new hapless crew member.)

Russell - 3.5(I could listen to him give exposition all day along he does it so well and makes it so much fun to listen to.)

Hivju - 3(He's basically just doing Tormund but hey he's good at that sort of menace and it works for the part.)

Theron - 2(Disappointing performance as she just doesn't find the right path for her performance. The problem is though she just doesn't seem to be having any fun in the role whatsoever. Your in a Fast and the Furious movie, that's a time where you can go over the top it bit. She's far too dour in the role, and just needed to let loose a bit.)

Mirren - 3(Entertaining little cameo from her, now she's having the right kind of fun.)

Nguyễn:

You can find the list in my review for Keanu Reeves in Thumbsucker. He has enough presence and is charming enough. I don't think he truly excels in either aspect but he's usually decent.

Matt:

Willis - (Going on having not re-watched since I saw it in theaters. Anyway as I recall Willis makes for a good sort of purposefully stoic hero. In that Willis very much is a representation of the hero type in a fairly straightforward way, though not emotionally simple way. He portrays sort of the conflict of accepting his place in an effective way less as a hero shirking his duty, but just as man coming to terms with his strange reality.)

Jackson - 4(If I re-watched the film he probably would go up. As I liked his way of giving way the twist while never actually doing it. In that he gives sort of the cunning incisive style fitting to a villain yet Jackson is able to subvert with this genuine passion of a man who believes he's doing the right thing, again technically a villain though he hides it so well while technically not hiding it all. I particularly love his final scene where he's actually rather heartbreaking in depicting the man painfully accepting his apparent "fate".)

Luke:

Just toned it down a bit honestly particularly with the "Naaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhsssssss". He and Bonham-Carter has a similair trajectory where they began well enough but took their mannerisms up to eleven in the later installments.

Trailers:

Alien
Psycho
The Dark Knight (Joker trailer)
Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings
Watchmen
Logan (Hurt)
Cloverfield
The Master (teaser)
Godzilla 2014
The Shining

Anonymous:

16.
