From what I remember I thought overt Streep worked for the material but oddly seemed muted despite the material)

Ross - 3(She's charming enough in the role and has a good enough chemistry with both men. She's not anything too remarkable to be sure, but she's good)

Miles - 2.5(She's there to be a somewhat grotesque character for a for a scene, which I actually think she does just fine though she's not a one scene wonder by any measure)

Vaccaro - 3(If someone had to be nominated I suppose I would have taken her over miles although I don't think she's anything too memorable either. I mean she's fine in that she brings a certain allure in her scene with Voight. That's about it)

Cannon - 4.5(I really liked her performance a great deal although she's definitely lead not supporting. Cannon though is quite effective in portraying the low key discontent with her character as she is most confused by her friends life changes. She has some great moments with the narrative though such as when her husband casually admits an affair, and her breakdown is quite moving actually)Louis Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07933180959140340196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2457552600380761837.post-86287929297064433132015-03-22T16:22:50.321-04:002015-03-22T16:22:50.321-04:00Honestly, I slightly preferred Redford to Newman i...Honestly, I slightly preferred Redford to Newman in BC & SK. Newman's work though is all about his charm which he has plenty of here and is one incredibly likable outlaw. In addition though Newman knows how to do this especially well while still maintaining at least enough of a menace for the character. Also he works quite well with...)

Redford - 4(Although I might still say a tad overshadowed by Newman not to the extent that he is in the Sting, although there's no Robert Shaw around to do an extra bit shading either. Redford though has a great dynamic with Newman here as he kinda acts well as the humorless one which plays well against Newman's more colorful performance. In addition the more emotional moments that are there, mostly in the final act, are made appropriately moving as the two certainly create an endearing friendship)Louis Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07933180959140340196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2457552600380761837.post-66627576989770428532015-03-22T09:41:09.399-04:002015-03-22T09:41:09.399-04:00@Psifonian: You're the second person I've ...@Psifonian: You're the second person I've heard who saw Gillian Anderson's take on that character and considers her the definitive Blanche.Robert MacFarlanehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17264501767985746886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2457552600380761837.post-9704124332597164892015-03-22T00:36:15.421-04:002015-03-22T00:36:15.421-04:00Richard Burton-Anne of the Thousand Days

Yeah, I was sad to see Signoret go, but Magnani floored me on the rewatch. Leigh's fantastic in '51, but I just identified more with Winters and found her much more haunting (plus I've since seen performances of Blanche that have eclipsed Leigh's; namely, Gillian Anderson's turn). And more people really need to see "Queen" for Kangana Ranaut's flawless, luminous work.Psifoniannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2457552600380761837.post-13589232690120875882015-03-21T17:46:59.344-04:002015-03-21T17:46:59.344-04:00Screw it, I'm going with Hopper

I'm really looking forward to it, your videos are really well done and your picks are interesting! Oh, and about the Lead Actress video... I''m kinda sad that Simone Signoret is not your pick for Lead Actress 1955 anymore and that your winner for 1951 isn't Leigh (who gives my favorite performance ever in Streetcar), but it was really a beautiful video (interesting pick for 2014 in particular!) and we agree on some of the winners (love your three wins for Ingrid Bergman and the one to Teresa Wright in Shadow of a Doubt among many others)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2457552600380761837.post-17485097607272501472015-03-21T17:00:52.688-04:002015-03-21T17:00:52.688-04:001.
