I predict a 3rd Foster win.

Everyone isn't it great still that Liam Neeson did get an Oscar nomination in his career, I am still happy that he did get at least one.

Luke Higham said...

Anonymous: Yes. Anyway, a nomination matters more than a win for me personally.

Anonymous said...

I am a different person, I am personally a bit sad that Liam Neeson didnt get Oscar nominated, he isnt the kind to get lots of these kinds of roles so it may have been his last chance or one of his last chances.

Louis Morgan said...

If everyone feels it will be more climatic to do supporting second, I'm more than willing to pull the old switcheroo.

Anonymous:

Jake Gyllenhaal, who actually almost replaced him for Spider-man 2.

Luke:

I'll get you those thoughts soon.

Anonymous said...

Louis: Gyllenhaal as Spidey? I think he'd be a better fit for Moon Knight.

Louis Morgan said...

Anonymous:

Well remember it's early 2000's Gyllenhaal I'm talking about.

Luke Higham said...

No Louis. You've already made the decision, so stick to it. Anyway, I'm really dieing for The Witch reviews.

Louis Morgan said...

Well I honestly I did supporting first only because that's what I usually do for the contemporary alternates, in 2014 when I did lead first I got a couple pseudo-questions about doing that first.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Even so, you still have Driver and Keaton to watch.

First time I ever heard of Moon Knight was from Patton Oswalt's Filibuster on Parks and Recreation.

Anonymous said...

Luke: I got my first Moon Knight experience by playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Tahmeed Chowdhury said...

Louis: You should stick to your decision. Personally, I feel you should review the weaker categories in certain years first (like you did for the official nominees this year :P, intentionally or not, I don't know xD), indeed for the sake of climax. While I'm not entirely too sure whether lead or supporting is stronger this year, 2014 does stand as a perfect example where the lead performances were larger in number and impact compared to the supporting ones.

Robert MacFarlane said...

I don't know, early 2000's Gyllenhaal was still in his creepy-ass Donnie Dario stage. Probably wouldn't have fit Peter Parker back then.

Michael McCarthy said...

I don't mind either way Louis, I was just surprised.

Charles H said...

Louis: It's alright, You can keep it this way. I didn't mean it in a rude way.

Louis Morgan said...

Robert:

Fair point although I didn't find him too creepy in October Sky. Thinking of the other actors in the right age group, he's actually not all that easy to cast. Maybe Joseph Gordon-Levitt?

Michael:

Well also as Luke noted I do need a chance to see Keaton first.

Luke Higham said...

RatedRStar: Think about any other actors that you greatly admire. James Mason perhaps.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: What do you think of Taboo so far and Tom Hardy.

RatedRStar: I've heard that Rains is good in Deception, so that's a performance you could request. But then again, when is Rains never good?

I have yet a lot of films to watch from this past year. From this lineup, I've only seen Hail Caesar! (which I liked a lot) and The Witch (which I loved). I know you're a huge fan of Ben Foster Louis, so I'm sure he's going to get a high rating. Can't really get an idea about how the rest of them are going to do in your ranking, but all of them seem to give interesting performances.

Louis: if you're still trying to watch films of 2016, make sure to check out Aquarius (I think I mentioned that before but I can't remember). Sonia Braga's performance is exceptional, in my humble opinion.

Luke Higham said...

Deiner: Your ratings for the cast of The Witch and quick thoughts on them as well.

Calvin Law said...

Guys, not to be petty and bring up bad films again, but...

'Nocturnal Animals is essentially Tom Ford's take on The Room'

Johnny = Edward/Tony (If you love somebody you can't just throw it away, YOU'RE TEARING ME APART SUSAN)
Lisa = Susan (More unfairly portrayed, though)
Hutton = Mark (bland deliveries and all, but I think Sestero was better)
Party People in The Room = Party People in Nocturnal Animals (though the former were probably more convincing in their line deliveries)
Chris R = Bobby Andes (poor guy, trying to make sense of it all, doing his very best)
Denny = Ray Marcus (umm okay, maybe not, I liked Aaron Taylor-Johnson, still do, but this is too funny to pass up)
Me Underpants fella = Jake Gyllenhaal with certain line deliveries
Susan's mother, Anne = Claudette (except Carolyn Minnott was actually not excruciating to watch)

Calvin Law said...

Discuss.

Louis Morgan said...

Luke:

Hadn't noticed that.

Calvin:

You know, you might be onto something....

Louis Morgan said...

Calvin:

Unfortunately (fortunately?) we didn't get to see the Susan seducing Hutton scene, "The candles, the music, the sexy dress? I mean what's going here?", those lines fit a little too well to Armie Hammer's performance I think.

Calvin Law said...

Essentially, the whole film is within Johnny's mindset. He imagines himself as both Tony and Edward, the former a representation of how the whole world has turned against him, the latter is his struggle with Lisa and how unfairly she's treated him, everyone who betrays him is portrayed as an overblown and ridiculous caricature because of his gradually disintegrating mindset. He awakes.

'Yeah, man, you'll never know. People are very strange these days. I used to know a girl; she had a dozen guys. One of them found out about it... beat her up so bad she ended up at a hospital on Guerrero Street.'

(chuckles with all the fiery misogyny of a thousand Tony's standing outside the rain in the abortion clinic, and imagining that haunted final look on Susan's face in the restaurant alone, serves you all right he thinks).

I'll probably refine these thoughts at some point.

Calvin Law said...

Louis: Gahhhhh. To be fair, though he was bad, I found Hammer largely inoffensive. He was playing a dickhead in a dickish fashion, and didn't have much screentime, so I sorta forgive him more than say, Linney.

Calvin Law said...

Also, 'The Beguiled' trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROZkSRJ_cfo

You know what, I don't hate it. Obviously an unncesseary remake, but the cast is good, and if it manages to find a new way to tell the story, I can't see why it couldn't be the very least watchable.

Robert MacFarlane said...

Hammer gets one point for his reaction to Adams in the car. For that brief second, he attempted to make something of a completely thin role.

Robert MacFarlane said...

Also, no clue what to make of The Beguiled trailer. I will say I'm happy Sofia Coppola is finally moving away from her obnoxious pseudo-mumblecore style for once.

Louis Morgan said...

Calvin:

The original is a great very underrated film so I don't see the need for a remake. The trailer I imagine probably is playing up the horror angle a bit more than in the actual film, but otherwise it doesn't look like it is offering anything new to the material at least from this glimpse. I will say the cast could be good, Page, Hartman, and Eastwood are a tough act to follow, but Kidman, Fanning, and Dunst are certainly all talented enough to give it a shot.

I will say I wish they cast someone with a bit more "trustworthy" of an appearance than Farrell, as in he already looks pretty suspicious.

Robert:

Norton - 1(I was probably the most amazed by this performance in that Norton brings the sort of awkwardness you'd need to go to a high School play usually to see. He's detached in such a fascinatingly bad way as he does emphasize parts of his lines yet they are always the wrong parts. He plays it as almost as though he randomly decides to phone it in mid-sentence resulting in quite the bizarre performance.)

Knightley - 1(Basically all of her worst tics all in a single performance, and the best part is it is only those tics, there's nothing else.)

Pena - 1(He's nearing Bunny Breckenridge from Plan 9 levels of phoning it in here. It's pretty astonishing how little he cares. There are so many scenes where he is just staring forward when he's suppose to be emoting. I could actually go Wiseaus with him, as I got a few laughs out of watching his bored face.)

Winslet - 1(I kind of kept forgetting she was in it from time to time by how lifeless her performance was. A little different from Pena in that Pena actively didn't care, Winslet kind of plays it like her character doesn't care, which I guess isn't much of a difference when you break it down.)

Mirren - 1(She is about as Mirreny as it gets and well if you ever wanted to dislike her doing her Mirren things here's your chance. As it contains none of the humor or charm as she normally provides. Well actually she provides one of the funniest scenes of 2016 with her delivery of the "collateral beauty" monologue, unfortunately that scene was meant to be deadly serious.)

Harris - 2(MVP ah yeah. She gets the closest to being at least a vague representation of a human being. Unfortunately that is not saying much. She tries though and like Will Smith is less terrible than everyone else. She's also less terrible than Will Smith, but she still can't quite overcome it.)

Luke:

Jones - 3.5(He's pretty much always good. He doesn't get too much to do except help set up the story. He's Toby Jones though so he still makes himself stand out in the right way. You feel you get to know him despite the limitations, and adds a needed bit of real character to the film.)

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Are you very close to choosing Female Lead for 2016 as the best of the decade so far. I think Beckinsale, Bening and Taylor-Joy should help push it to the top.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Not by the number of fives, but just the overall quality of the year.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: I've read your last comment on the Garfield review. Please don't drop the ratings, they're the iceing on the cake.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: I've put my mind, heart and soul into keeping record of all your 5s, 4.5s etc.

Louis Morgan said...

Luke:

Don't worry I'm not going to drop them, because I do understand the appeal.

Calvin Law said...

Louis: Thoughts on the two Keanu leads, and Reeves' cameo? Even if you didn't love the film (I assume you thought it was okay), you must've loved that scene.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Thanks, anyway for me personally, I don't think I would enjoy reading the reviews as much without ratings at the end. :)

Calvin Law said...

I've kind of dropped ratings in terms of discussing the performances, but it's a useful tool for ranking :)

Calvin Law said...

Also, for anyone interested, I've just done an in-depth review of Adams in Arrival on my blog, actorvsactor.blogspot.co.uk

Robert MacFarlane said...

I can't do actual scores for performance because it's just not how my brain is programmed. Plus certain performances that wow me at first end up having less staying power than I would have thought.

Louis Morgan said...

Calvin:

Key & Peele - (The film itself I did not think quite worked, another example where once it got into the action it forgot to be funny. It seems like only Edgar Wright's good at that, on a side note please let Ansel Elgort not be terrible for once. Any who, these two are doing their usual thing, I think Key excels a bit more here in creating a character where Peele feels a bit more sketchy. They are both charming and funny even when their material isn't great. They try their best to elevate even the later scenes, they lose steam along with the film but they certainly are good. Plus Keanu as Keanu is a blast, looking forward to that John Wick 2 on Friday.)

Calvin Law said...

I just listened to Ansel Elgort singing, dunno which is more excruciating, that or the cigarette metaphor.

Even though there's less 5's than the last two years, I still think it was better for lead actors than 2015. Great year as it was, I didn't staunchly stand beside or feel about any performance the same way performances like Garfield's (in Silence), Affleck's or Mortensen's made me feel.

Louis: I finally got around to watching Paths of Glory, and I agree with you, it is brilliant and Kirk Douglas was amazing. I only wish it was little longer.
Seeing as I couldn't find them anywhere else, could I have your ratings and thoughts on the cast of that film?

Calvin Law said...

Tahmeed:

Meeker - 4(Meeker gives a moving portrayal of a man who basically takes everything perhaps too much in stride, even when he is marked for death. Meeker though is very good at providing the internal turmoil in the man, while staying believable as he refuses to lose his reserve even when he is about to be executed)

Menjou - 3(He brings enough cynical pompousness to the role but George Macready is more memorable in a very similar role)

Macready - 4(He's all pompousness in everything he does from his step just to everything single thing he says. Macready properly develops the nonsensical mindset through his performance and is completely convincing that a man could be so calm when sending men to their deaths for "cowardice". Macready and Menjou both are good in creating that foolishness of military protocol making Douglas's lashing out scene all the more satisfying)

Morris - 3(He's a tad on the caricature side of things as the stupid officer who screws everything up. I do really like his last scene with Meeker though and he's rather moving in showing the apology that is obviously far too late to do any good)

RatedRStar said...

Just looking at the Silence gang images I just imagined Liam Neeson being the lead singer of a rock band and Oida, Tsukamoto, Ogata, Kubozuka being the other members =D how cool would that be?

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Rating and thoughts on Aaron Eckhart in Bleed For This.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: I've resigned to the fact that you'll never give ratings to TV Performances (Mini-Series or Series) but could you create a top 100/150 performances list at some point, because I want to know how enthusiastic you really are for performances like Paul Giamatti in John Adams or Damian Lewis in Wolf Hall.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Or even just a list with every TV performance you've seen that you greatly appreciate.

Charles H said...

Varun: Let me be the one to ask, what did you think of Split?

Charles H said...

Luke: I really like the ratings at the end of the reviews, i'm so used to seeing Mifune's and Brennen's around.

Luke Higham said...

Charles: I've been so used to them since the beginning of the blog that they've become entrenched. That to be rid of them would take some of the essence away from the blog. And I don't want two years of hard work go down the drain. (Have multiple documents on 5s, 4.5s, 5s per actor, director and tally the amount of fives per year.

Charles H said...

I just noticed Bridges is now over Mortensen on alternate lead 2016.

Luke Higham said...

Charles: I said before that Bridges would come 2nd. I was only wrong on Mortensen (4th) & Edgerton (3rd).

Charles H said...

Luke: Seems good. Do you think Foster will get his 3rd win here? I'm hoping for Neeson or Kubozuka.

Louis: Your cast and director for a 1980's version of Watchmen.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Your ratings for Jones and Langella in Small Soldiers.

Louis Morgan said...

Robert:

Yep, she was awful.

Luke:

1 - (Funny how you can get kind of a yin-yang the same year as everything that worked about her performance in 11.22.63 failed so miserably here. She even takes kind of a similair approach yet she overdoes the style here to the point that it is basically all her performance is, unlike in 11.22.63, to the point that she completely feels artificial in every aspect of her work making the already extremely unnatural dialogue even harder to digest.)

Eckhart - 3.5(It's a well worn role of course. I thought Eckhart successfully transformed himself in it though and made his accent mannerisms feel natural. He's good in his scenes for Teller but I never felt they got past just the standard trainer/trainee scenes. He's there, he's good, but well he's no Burgess Meredith in Rocky or hey Sylvester Stallone in Creed.)

I don't remember small soldiers all that well.

Calvin:

Zootopia/Moana - (I guess I'll be a Scrooge again, as I always am for Animated films. There are few elements that are of course great. The animation is beautiful in both films, I particularly liked Moana's style. Both films though I feel have those jokes that never feel completely natural within the story. I know why they are there, but they always feel like they're for "okay now we need the kids to laugh. Which again I understand, but it's something the keeps me from ever loving so many modern animated films. Zootopia I thought was fine for the most part though I never found its story that engaging, and again since it is a kids movie its message will be excessively spelled out. I preferred Moana on the whole. I liked the music, and found it to be a fun adventure. It really doesn't reinvent any Disney tropes, but it does them quite well. I do think it peters out a bit with its climax, but I still did rather enjoy it.)

Luke: He's horrible to me. Constantly giving horrid performances. But Elgort and Kinnaman are also horrid.

Luke Higham said...

Charles: At least we completely agree on Elgort and Kinnaman. :)

I can't stop watching Elgort's music video. It's mesmerically bad.

Louis: What do you think Foster needs to do to get an Oscar nomination?

Luke Higham said...

Anonymous: He needs an awful lot of luck at this point.

Louis Morgan said...

Anonymous:

Well this was the closest he came, and if Bridges went lead he probably would've gotten in. I think if, or when he gets it will probably be in a supporting role in a best picture nominee. What he really needs to do is play a supporting role to Leonardo DiCaprio.

Luke:

4.5

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Are there any Disney films that you feel are in dire need of a live-action remake. The only ones I really want are The Black Cauldron and The Hunchback Of Notre Dame.

Louis Morgan said...

Luke:

I'll co-sign on Hunchback of course, I don't mind that they're doing Mulan though, Dumbo on the otherhand.......

Robert MacFarlane said...

Dumbo directed by Tim Burton and written by the guy who did Transformers 2. So yeas, the crows will probably be more racist than the 40's version.

Louis:

I guest Studio Ghibli is still your severe blind spot until now right :))
Btw, I think you missed out 1 5-stars performance from Tom Courtenay in The Dresser from your answer above, am I correct?

Luke Higham said...

He's a 4.5 for The Dresser.

Louis Morgan said...

Nguyễn Ngọc Toàn:

Yes, it still is.

Robert MacFarlane said...

Ghibli's been a blindspot for me as well. Recently I've been trying to quell that. Of the four I've seen, I'll give you some brief thoughts:

Ponyo: Garbage
Princess Mononoke: I get the appeal, but I felt sort of detached to it. Still, major points for thematic complexity and the animation.
Spirited Away: The masterpiece it's been hailed as, believe the hype on that one.
The Wind Rises: Kind of a hard one to pin down. On paper it sounds like a biopic, but in practice it's so much stranger. The love story feels like it needed more time to flesh out. I respect it more than I like it.

Tahmeed Chowdhury said...

I really, really hope we get Foster's or the Silence cast review first.
Louis: I second all of Robert's opinions about those Studio Ghibli films, but I do have two more to recommend- My Neighbor Totoro, and Only Yesterday, which are masterpieces in their own right.

Calvin Law said...

For me,

Princess Mononoke: Excellent film, highly affecting and rather beautifully animated even if it takes a while to get going.

Spirited Away: Agree completely with Tahmeed and Robert.

Totoro: Adorable film, and great example of making a lot out of a simple and earnest storyline, plus it's surprisingly moving.

Grave of the Fireflies: Grab the tissues for this one, it's close to being a masterpiece I'd say, gruelling examination of WWII through two kids' eyes.

Porco Rosso: His most underrated film, hilarious and heartfelt with a loopy concept, plus the Westernized voice version is actually good (with Michael Keaton and Cary Elwes)

Howl's Moving Castle: Epic and grand scope, falters a bit towards the end but it's a rather beautiful film.

Honestly I'd recommend all of them. I saw Ponyo a while ago and barely remember anything.

Bryan L. said...

Ben Foster's upcoming two films are an action/western (Hostiled) and a crime noir set in Texas (Galveston) according to IMDB. Seems like we'll have to wait awhile since neither of those genres are Oscar-friendly barring critical acclaim, or he absolutely kills it in Galveston (co-stars) with Elle Fanning.

Charles H said...

94dfk1: Hostile sounds like a 3:10 to Yuma-type performance for Foster. I'll be looking forward to that. And not be looking forward to it at the same time since that will be his 5th snub already.

Luke Higham said...

Charles: Since it is a Scott Cooper film, I'm kinda looking forward to it, but Ben Foster really should be given more lead roles.

Charles H said...

Luke: He's being built to be the best supporting actor today. He's basically modern day Claude Rains or Dennis Hopper. But he should be given a couple more lead roles to show his talents of carrying a film. Everytime you see a Foster project you know you're in a for a treat, lead or supporting.

Luke Higham said...

Charles: I agree with you, yet the film's similarity to 3:10 to Yuma, is why I'd rather see him in a lead role again. He should be given more variety in roles than play villains more than half the time. (Don't know what kind of character he might be playing)

Luke Higham said...

Charles: I would also like to see him play a non-American/Canadian character as it would be uncharted territory for him.

Charles H said...

Luke: I'm in complete agreement with you. He should given more of a variety in roles. He's far more than capable.

Bryan L. said...

Christian Bale, Stephen Lang, Rosamund Pike and Jesse Plemons also star in Hostiles, so considering Fosters luck, one of the other actors will get the bulk of the awards attention, unless he is THE standout of the movie. The movie should also be well-received obviously haha.

Robert MacFarlane said...

Confession: I never got past the first five minutes of Out of the Furnace. When Woody Harrelson tried to kill a woman with a hot dog, I figured the movie wasn't for me.

Charles H said...

94dfk1: I actually wouldn't mind some Lang award attention. But Foster will most likely be the standout. And hopefully garner some nominations.

Anonymous said...

Calvin: I always found Spirited Away to be a bit overrated.

L Rime said...

Luke:

Kinnaman has never had as bad of a performance as Redmayne has in Jupiter Ascending or The Danish Girl. Kinnaman is rather mediocre, but he's not THAT bad. I don't know what Redmayne was thinking with those two films.

Though to be fair, I give Kinnaman a lifetime pass for any bad work he does in the future. His line readings in The Killing has earned him that. Quotables for days.

Unknown said...

Just watched Resident evil 6, Can't believe this piece of shiet make it to the final. Awww, such a waste of time!

Charles H said...

L Rime: Redmayne is not just bad in those 2 roles you mentioned. But also My Week With Marilyn and Hick. And probably others i luckily forgot about.

Luke Higham said...

L Rime: I've seen an episode or two of The Killing and he is indeed good, but his film career so far has been a failure.

Redmayne was god awful in those films, but I've appreciated his work in a number of things like Les Mis, Theory Of Everything, Fantastic Beasts, The Pillars Of The Earth and even Black Death.

Luke Higham said...

Charles: I concur on My Week With Marilyn and I'm sure he's absolute garbage in Hick.

Anonymous said...

L Rime: If the guy is good in that series, then why can't he be good in movies?

Calvin Law said...

I actually watched Hick awhile ago and though Redmayne was bad, I thought Moretz was even worse.

Calvin Law said...

And Blake Lively was actually fine.

Robert MacFarlane said...

I'm starting to realize I dislike Chloe Grace Moretz more often than I like her. Her work in the (terrible) Carrie remake alone is a black mark of death.

Calvin Law said...

She's just not a very good actress. I'm not crazy about her in Kick-Ass or the film anymore, to be fair.

Luke Higham said...

Calvin: Yeah, I think Steinfeld's easily the best of her age group right now.

Robert MacFarlane said...

Yeah, same here.

Robert MacFarlane said...

Seriously, that Carrie remake was trash. Ansel Elgort is in it and isn't even the fourth worst performance.

Anonymous said...

The Carrie remake was just another of those unnecessary ones.

Charles H said...

How long till the next review?

Tahmeed Chowdhury said...

Charles: Louis is probably doing the review of the Silence guys, which will take loads of time. I don't know, he may also be busy in his personal or professional life.

L Rime said...

Luke:

Plenty of actors have bad film careers. Doesn't make them bad actors. Timothy Olyphant is a good example of that. He's had a gem of a film here or there but it's never really taken off for him the way television has. And he's a legitimately good actor with boat loads of charisma.

Anonymous:

Different mediums, clearly. Some actors are just better with longer form storytelling. And that's not a bad thing. Because some actors are better in smaller doses as well which makes them perfect for film.

Robert MacFarlane said...

I have to assume Olyphant must have been good on Justified, because every film I've seen with him he's consistently been terrible.

Louis Morgan said...

Saw John Wick 2, a little bit of a disappointment for me. I expected that it would have less in terms of emotional stakes, but it also just doesn't build as a singular film as well. It spends too much time setting up Wick 3 for my liking. It's still fun but a definite step down for me.

Reeves - 3.5(A good reprise, he still brings the needed conviction, and manages to make the action scenes deliver a strong impact. He just obviously does not have as much material to work with this time.)

Common - 2.5(He's okay but I felt he could have have brought something a little extra.)

Scamarcio - 2.5(Nyqvist offered a much more compelling villain. He's just very average.)

Rose - 2.5(She tries at least something a little atypical as the silent assassin type goes. Didn't quite work for me though.)

Fishburne - 3(Underused but he's a lot fun in his brief screen time.)

McShane - 3.5(McShaneing it up in the best of ways. Adds a real gravitas to the proceedings, particularly near the end of the film.)

Nero - (Perfectly cast as the Italian equivalent to McShane's character, I do hope we get to go to the French continental with Alain Delon as the manager.)

Luke Higham said...

L Rime: Give him another TV Role to thrive in and then I might lay off of him.

McConaughey & Ramirez

Louis: I'm sad to hear that. :(

Have you seen 20th Century Women yet.

Anonymous said...

Louis: From the episodes you've seen of Beast Machines, did you see any that had Jetstorm? If so, what did you think of Brian Drummond's performance?

L Rime said...

Robert:

Olyphant makes it look easy in Justified. Seriously. That's probably why he didn't get as much awards attention as say Jon Hamm or Bryan Cranston. It doesn't even seem like he's acting. Watch it, Robert. At the very least, the pilot episode. It's one of the best pilots ever made.

And if I may ask, what movies have you seen him in?

Luke:

Pretty sure Kinnaman has a Netflix series coming out. I guess we'll see what happens with that.

Robert MacFarlane said...

L Rime: I saw him in Go, in which he was TERRIBLE. Granted, everyone outside of Sarah Polley sucked in that movie, but he was especially bad.

Luke Higham said...

Louis: Your thoughts on Ansel Elgort and Joel Kinnaman as actors.

Charles H said...

L Rime: I'll be looking forward to that series. I'd love to see him use some acting talents if he could. But chances are slim.

L Rime said...

Robert:

Ah, you're one of those people. Go seems to be particularly hated by some. I thought everyone was pretty good in it and it's a solid film overall.

Charles:

You're talking about Kinnaman right? Because yea, his show sounds like it has an interesting concept to it. Hopefully we get something good. I love science fiction.

Deiner said...

Louis: do you think you can watch It's Only the End of the World? I would love to read your thoughts on its cast.

Robert MacFarlane said...

L Rime: Yeah, I despised Go, but I hate most Tarantino knockoffs from that era. Took me until Edge of Tomorrow to forgive Doug Liman.

Louis Morgan said...

Anonymous:

Don't remember it all that well.

Luke:

Elgort - (Antithesis of charm and charisma. The worst thing about is he's trying so hard to project that sort of thing. He's an atrocious actor even past that with his either awkward, bland or smug delivery. A terrible actor, but hey I sure hope he has a turnaround for Baby Driver.)

Kinnaman - (Such a terribly bland actor. There just no charisma whatsoever to the point he seems to be actively trying to make the other actors look worse by standing near them. Film just seems a lot less special when you see him in a frame of it. Alright maybe that's a little harsh, since I hear he's good in the killing.)

Deiner:

I have not.

L Rime said...

Robert:

I never understand the hate for Tarantino knock offs when Tarantino pretty much steals a ton from other movies as well. Hell, even his writing is essentially the same as Elmore Leonard's, maybe a bit more on the extreme end.
