Seen them all except for Jaeckel. I would go with Johnson.

Johnson was decent but way overrated, I think Scheider gave a true supporting performance, never stealing the show from Hackman but creating a relationship that was perfectly believable

I haven't seen Jaeckel, and I failed to see why everyone is impressed with Johnson. I'd go with Bridges.

My predictions:

5. Jaeckel
4. Frey
3. Scheider
2. Bridges
1. Johnson

I have seen all 5, Jeff Bridges and Ben Johnson were 5 stars, Roy Scheider was great too, Richard Jaeckel had a small but quite touching role which I actually saw, Frey was the weak link for me despite a very strong year,
Jeff Bridges was the best for me though.

1.Jeff Bridges
2.Ben Johnson
3.Roy Scheider
4.Richard Jaeckel
5.Leonard Frey

This is one of my favorite years though as I dont think any of the 5 were bad
